The stackability of these skills means that after gaining a baseline level of knowledge through the Google IT Support program, it is easy to pick up more advanced skills. So, a few years ago we began working with a nonprofit organization to provide training and pathways to roles in technical support at Google. We learned that not only is IT support a highly teachable field, but that we could teach someone completely new to the industry the IT fundamentals in under six months.

So, we decided to build an IT training program on Coursera, created entirely by Googlers who are expert in IT support so this training could be available to everyone. Now, learners can earn a recommendation of 12 college credits for completing the program--the equivalent of four college courses at the associate degree-level. This aims to help open up additional pathways to learners who are interested in higher education, and prepare them for entry-level jobs.

Google does not generate any revenue from Google Career Certificates and has made need-based financial assistance available. Google has worked with Coursera to make Google Career Certificates available on their platform. However, the Associate Android Developer Certification is hosted on developer. The Google IT Support Certificate is also available in Spanish and Portuguese. We are working to make the certificates available in more languages. Recipients of financial aid will have full access to course content and assignments required to earn a certificate.

Google has also funded 100,000 scholarships for Google Career Certificates, which will be distributed by Grow with Google partners and Google. These funds will create a lasting impact in helping people land high-quality jobs in high-growth fields.

These companies span multiple sectors and are committed to considering Google Career Certificate graduates for entry-level jobs. Upon completion of a Google Career Certificate, you will gain access to an exclusive job platform where you can easily apply to opportunities from employers with open jobs.

Employers interested in joining the Google Career Certificates Employer Consortium can find more information at grow. You'll also be able to connect with over 130 US employers in the hiring consortium who are accepting candidates who have completed a Google Career Certificate. Every certificate has been created to equip learners with theoretical and practical knowledge and real-life problem-solving skills to be successful in an entry-level job.

Expert industry organizations and platforms - like the Project Management Institute for project management, Tableau for data analytics, and Figma for UX design, to name a few - consulted and collaborated on material. Annamarie has enjoyed a long, successful career and continues to find new opportunities. SHPE has been there every step of the way.

Maida found engineering by chance and joined SHPE. Now she is a Lifetime Member giving back to the next generation. When Xavier left his hometown to attend MIT, he found support within his SHPE Familia.

His next goal is going to space with NASA. Mariana dreamed of using her creativity to solve problems and help others. Being involved with SHPE allows her to do that. Annamarie Valdez I first got involved with SHPE as a student at the Colorado School of Mines but it just feels like I was always a part of SHPE. It's been my life since 1992. And in 2009 I became a Lifetime Member. I also ended up going back to school and pursuing my MBA.

To be in SHPE you just have to support our mission and vision to bring up our youth in an environment where they have an opportunity to learn STEM technologies and pass that on. My advice would be: don't care too much about what other people think, step out of your comfort zone, get involved, and give back. Maida Lopez Maida's sister was the first person who encouraged her to try engineering.

Engineering opens many opportunities. I became a member in 1999 so if you count, I am now celebrating 20 years as a SHPE member. Engineering is one of the best things that has happened in my life. I've been a part of a lot of projects and teams that have made world history. My favorite part now is being on the other side, as a professional.

My best advice is that you have to learn how to sell yourself in person and on paper. When you have an opportunity to come to the conventions and meet the recruiters, go meet them and introduce yourself.

Xavier Zapien 2015 When I was president of my robotics team in high school, we created a SHPE Junior chapter. We knew the value of not only having these engineering skills but also sharing this with other high schools and groups. Xavier Zapien 2016 I'm originally from El Paso and I wanted to broaden my horizons. It's been an outstanding opportunity.
